HEDRICK–Mrs. James A. Spilman, 54, of Hedrick, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa following an illness of two years.
She was Josephine E. Bonar, daughter of E. Russell and Ida Vogel Bonar, and was born in Fairfield August 24, 1903. She spent most of her life in Jefferson County and in the Hedrick community. She was married October 11, 1944, in Ottumwa to Mr. Spilman, who survives.
Besides her husband, she leaves a stepson, Robert E. Spilman of Hedrick, and two sisters, Mrs. Esther Adams of Ottumwa and Mrs. Edith Countryman of Birmingham.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Hedrick Baptist Church, in charge of the Rev. Russell Reed of the Wright Community Church. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery at Ottumwa. The casket was taken from the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Ottumwa to the Spilman home this afternoon. It will be taken to the church Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.
