She was a daughter of Willis Brown & Elizabeth Worley. Her husband was Sherman D. Baker.

Mrs. Nettie Baker, well known resident of Atlas, died Thursday morning from a heart ailment. Mrs. Baker had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. W. J. Hillman and husband for many years, and they tenderly cared for her during her recent illness. Mrs. Baker had been troubled with a heart ailment for about four years, and had been very poorly the past year, quietly slipping away Thursday morning. Mrs. Baker was the daughter of Willis and Elizabeth Worley Brown and was born at the old Brown homestead, the late C. B. Dustin farm near Summer Hill, on Nov. 11, 1866. She was married to Sherman Baker, who passed away February 12, 1938. She is survived by three children, Calvin Baker of Los Angeles, Calif.; Hazel, wife of J. D. Mitchell of Moose Jaw, Sask., Canada, and Zelma, wife of W. J. Hillman of Atlas; nine grandchildren, Geraldine and Sherman Baker, J. D. Clayton and Gordon Mitchell, Mrs. Jean Cassidy, Junior and Bob Hillman and mrs. Bette Yelverton and the following great grandchildren, Richard Gene Cassidy, Elaine Marie, Delores Ann, James Edward, Clara Lee and Janice Sue Hillman and Paul Douglas Yelverton, also one sister, Mrs. W. H. Marion of Louisiana, Mo., who is 83 years old. She was a member of the O.E.S. lodge and was a charter member of the Atlas Christian Church. Early in life she was a teacher in the Sunday school annd for years was very active in all the activities of the church. Not only will the Atlas neighbors feel the loss of Mrs. Baker, but the whole community, her many friends, her relatives, and her church, in which she took the greatest of interest, always willing to do her part and more or advancement. Her deep spirituality, her loving kindness and thoughtfulness of all with whom she came in contact so impressed each one, that she will always live in their minds and hearts. It was her everyday thoughtfulness for others, the friendly smile and cheering words, also a fine sense of humor which carried her far in the trials and disappointments of life and helped to lighten the burden of others. Life is made up of the small things which make it coplete and great. So her life was one of greatness. Now she has left us to carry on her work in spacious fields. While we sadly miss her yet we rejoice that she has been received into the arms of God's mercy, into everlasting peace and into the glorious company of the saints in light. A beautiful life does not end in death.
