She grew up in Timpson, Texas and graduated from Timpson High School. She worked as a teller at Cotton Belt State Bank and later as an insurance agent with the Morrison Insurance Agency managing their Timpson office until retirement. She was a member of Timpson Missionary Baptist Church in Timpson.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Shady Grove Cemetery in Timpson with Bro. Jack Smith officiating.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Baker; parents, William Thomas "Tom" Baker and Arie Richards Baker; sisters, Erel Baker Laake, Uradee Baker Dockrell, and Thelma Baker Moore; brother, Walter Thomas "Jack" Baker and one niece, Shelba Rhodes.
She leaves behind her son, Phillip H. Baker and his wife, Janell Baker of Timpson; three grandchildren, Phyllis Goodwin, Janet Welch and Cole Baker; two great-grandchildren, Kearsten Clark and Geoffrey Dubea; sister, Katie Baker; nephews, Tommy Moore and Ronnie Cole; niece, Avie Rhodes; nine great nieces and nephews and six great-great nieces and nephews.
