CRASH TAKES LIFE OF TOWNSHIP TRUSTEE

Springfield Township Trustee Arlos W. Priddy, Sr., praised by colleagues as a hard-working, dedicated man, was killed Monday in a truck crash in Pennsylvania.
Priddy, 54, of 161 California Ave., died when he lost control of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 76, west of Philadelphia, about 6:30 a.m., said a dispatcher for the Pennsylvania State Police.
"It's a terrific loss," said Springfield Township Trustee, U. Timothy Juergens. "He's always been a very hard-working fellow, and it seemed like he had everybody else's interest at heart besides his own."
Priddy and his wife, Shirley Priddy, were married 33 years and have two children, Arlos W. Priddy, Jr. and Ellen E. Carl.
The dispatcher said Priddy was driving east on I-76 and lost control because of excessive speed on an off-ramp to southbound Interstate 467. The interchange is west of Philadelphia in the borough of West Conshohocken in Montgomery County, the dispatcher said.
Priddy was driving a truck for AD Serv Group, Inc., 3674 E. National Road.
The dispatcher said she wouldn't have additional information until today.
Jack Kame, a Springfield Township Trustee with Priddy for 13 years, described Priddy as "very friendly, very likable and well respected in the community."
Roger Tackett, president of the Clark County Commission, said he had tremendous respect for Priddy.
Priddy retired as a supervisor at Emro Marketing where he had worked for 32 years. He was a member of the township Board of Trustees for 13 years, and most recently served as vice chairman. Priddy ran for the County Commission in the 1992 Republican primary, but was defeated by Roger Baker.
Kame said Priddy had talked about running for County Commissioner Gordon Flax's seat when Flax retired.
"He said if he wasn't appointed to the seat, he would run as an independent," Kame said.
Priddy served on the board of directors of the Ohio Township Association, and was a deputy with the Clark County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of the Springfield Noon Optimist Club, and received the Optimist of the Year award in 1984.
He was a 33-year member of the American Red Cross, serving on the board of directors for three terms.
The Littleton & Rue Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Visitation there will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Springfield Pentecostal Assembly, 5435 W. National Road. Burial will be in Pleasant Chapel Cemetery.
Priddy's death was the second fatality at the Pennsylvania interchange since Dec. 9, said David Slade, a reporter with The Times Hearld, in Norristown, Pa. He said the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has checked the ramp several times and "each time have said they could find no fault in the construction."
