GUY CARPENTER
Guy Carpenter, 100, of Arnoldsburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996, at Roane General Hospital.
He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Joshua and Samantha Life Carpenter. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I, a retired farmer, photographer, and avid outdoorsman. He was a life member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are six daughters, Ada Flo Starr of Wooster, Ellen Flo Starcher of Spencer, Mary Jane Rose Bee of Ashland, Ohio, Karen Sue Roberts of Barstowe, Calif., Delma Ruth Endicott and Sharon Lou Stump, both of Parkersburg; four sons, Owen Page Carpenter of Perrysville, Ohio, Guy Vane Carpenter of Richwood, Watson Pool Carpenter of Mineral Wells and Boyd Blaine Carpen-ter of Ashland; three stepdaughters, Ellen Jackson and Carol Ann Falls, both of Arnoldsburg, and Daisy Boyce of Newport News, Va.; 35 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dora Ellen Price Carpenter; his second wife, Radie Bragg Starcher Carpenter; three daughters, Thelma Blanche Bowers, Jennie Fern Eagle and Emogene Atkinson; two sisters, Marcelia Carpenter and Nancy Carpenter; four brothers, Marcellus Carpenter, Alpha Benjamin Carpenter, Mallie C. Carpenter and Ralph Greely Carpenter; one granddaughter, Michelle Roberts; and one grandson, Amos Glenn Starcher.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Evangelist Corley Miller officiating. Burial was in Carpenter-Adkins Cemetery, Arnoldsburg.
