The following children were named in his will:
(1) Benjamin Burgher (1745-1822)
(2) John Burgher (about 1746-1820)
(3) Anne Burgher (about 1747-1846)
(4) David Burgher (about 1748-1813)
(5) Joseph Burgher (1754-1829)
(7) Charity Burgher (1761-1851)
(8) Nicholas Burgher (about 1762-about 1841)
Note 1: After declining an edit submitted by
member Auras, to link Manus to Elizabeth "Lizzie" Wheeler and referred her to my notes below, she set up an unknown burial for a Mrs. Manus Burgher (a given) with made up birth and death years. I refused to link her as the mother to the children I manage, but she has chosen to link that unfounded memorial to Manus. UPDATE: Denied again on 12/11/21. This memorial is now linked to a mother (although her mother's name isn't even known), who supposedly died in Albemarle and was buried over 280 miles away, back in about 1770.
Note 2: The only reference regarding Manus's wife, is the property given to him by Benjamin Wheeler on two different occasions, so it's ASSUMED that Manus was married to Benjamin's daughter. She's not mentioned in Manus's will, so would have died prior to his death. Her name on many family trees is listed only as Miss Wheeler, due to no first name listed in any records.
There are trees on Ancestry.com (copied from one to another) with her name listed as Elizabeth Missy Wheeler, but none of those trees have any sources mentioned or attached that show where this name came from. This information undoubtedly originated from FamilySearch.org (free genealogy site where anyone can enter/change information).
Miss Wheeler's name is listed on FamilySearch as Elizabeth Missy Wheeler. The birth source for her is an IGI record for an Elizabeth Wheeler, from East Hampton, New York, with a christening date of 1716. The Benjamin Wheeler family was from Virginia, not New York. Someone has combined this christening record with the name of Miss Wheeler and changed her name to Elizabeth Missy Wheeler. It is not accurate.
Please be careful when copying unproven information from other people's family trees.
UPDATE:
Finally found this record on Ancestry.com in the "Albemarle, Virginia Record of Families, 1744-1890" - still no first name for her, but it does state that they were married and that she is definitely the daughter of Benjamin.
"History of Albemarle County in Virginia", Chapter 7 states:
WHEELER, (daughter), father Benjamin, married
BURGHER, Manus
