Cara Nicole Payne, age 27, of Lorain , passed away on Sunday March 24, 2013. She was born in Lorain on September 15, 1985 and had been a life-long resident of the city.

Cara was a 2003 graduate of Admiral King High School and went on to study at Hiram College; most recently she had been enrolled in the Nursing Program at Lorain County Community College . She was currently working as a nurse's aid.

While a student at Admiral King, Miss Payne was active in the theater program there and played the role of Lady Macbeth in the school's production of the Shakespearian classic.

She played softball in high school as well as in both the Harborview Girl Scout Softball Association and the Lorain City League winning one city championship.

Cara was an avid lover of the outdoors and enjoyed nature. Additional interests included playing her guitar, reading poetry, and music, with a special passion for rock.

She is survived by her parents Kenneth L. and Cheryl A. (nee Wallace) Payne residing in Lorain , by her brother Aaron of Lorain, and by her paternal grandmother Ann (nee Johnson) Payne also of Lorain .

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather William Payne, and by her maternal grandparents Kirby and Annabel (nee Thwaite) Wallace.

Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue , Lorain . Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Reverend Bob Daugherty officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park , Amherst Township .
