Astoria, IL - Louis Loren Farwell, 95, formerly of Astoria, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Heritage Manor in Mount Sterling.

Louis was born January 24, 1918 in Astoria, a son of William Darius and Rose Workman Farwell. He married Gertrude "Janey" Hughes on May 31, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. She preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 2011.

He also was preceded in death by one grandson, Larry Farwell; three sisters, Betty Hulvey, Ina Curless and an infant; and five brothers, Dean, Billy, Arthur, Philip and an infant.

Surviving are one son, Les (Terri) Farwell; two daughters, Connie (Tom) Whorton and Janice Beams; one sister, Wanda Landes; six grandchildren; one step grandchild; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving from 1942-45 with a rank of Staff Sgt. He was in the 358th Airdrome Squadron, working as an Airplane Armorer.

He was a truck driver for Teamsters Local of Springfield.
