John W. Schoonmaker, 87, of 42 Bronson Road, Avon, Conn., formerly of 24 N. White St., city, died Monday at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, Conn.
Formerly employed at Dairyman's league of Poughkeepsie, he retired in 1957 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
He was born in Gardiner, Feb. 22, 1887, the son of Selah and Magdelene LeFevre Schoonmaker.
He went to school in Gardiner, and on Sept. 25, 1917, married Laura Delameter in Margaretville.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Dorothy) Floyd, Avon, Conn., eight grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Houston and Rev. William Doughty officiating.
Burial will be in the New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Robert H Auchmoody Funeral Home, 16 Grand Ave.
