Matthew (Gus) Augustus Dawson was taken from us tragically in an automobile accident the early morning of Saturday, March 8, 2003. Our beloved son, brother and grandson will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. He was 24.

Parish rosary will be held at 7 p.

m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cottonwood. The rosary will be recited for the family at Uhlorn Funeral Home in Cottonwood at 10 a.m. Thursday. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He was born March 1, 1979, in Salt Lake City to Judy and Robert Dawson Jr.

He graduated from Cottonwood Prairie High School in 1997 and went on to take welding classes at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston. Gus worked for Deatley Construction Co. of Lewiston at the time of his death. He is now with our Heavenly Father.

He was the example of living life to its fullest, and he knew no stranger. He was a kind person, always helping others. He loved the outdoors and spent much of his time with his closest friends fishing, hunting and dirt bike riding. Gus excelled in mechanical and electrical skills and was very creative and imaginative.

Gus was preceded in death by his twin brother, Roger, at birth; his maternal grandparents, Walt and Dorothy Wensman; and his paternal grandfather, Robert Dawson Sr.

Gus is survived by his mother and stepfather, Judy and Steve Snyder of Cottonwood; father, Robert Dawson Jr. and wife, Kathy of Alaska; sister, Koleen Dawson and fiance, Waylon Blevins of Lewiston; and Gus' fiancee, Sonya Sherrer and her children of Grangeville. Surviving half-brothers are Cory Dawson and wife, Leslie and their children, all of Edwall, Wash., Corry Dawson of St. Maries, and Danny Hansen and wife, Marthel of Plummer. Also surviving are stepbrothers, Jeremy Snyder and wife, Harmoney of Lewiston, Chad Snyder and wife, Elizabeth, of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Jesse Snyder and wife, Shanna, of Bremerton; paternal grandmother, Edna Dawson of Lewiston; and stepgrandmother, Barbara Marshall of Clarkston.
