Alfred Julian Burkhart, 75, of Murphys died Wednesday at his home. Mr. Burkhart was a native of Hodgeman County, Kan., and lived in Murphys 13 years.

He was an engineer for Teledyne Systems for 30 years. He was a member of the Sons in Retirement Society, the Forest Meadows Men's Club and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his children, Laurie Helm of Los Angeles, Shari Burkhart of Boulder, Colo., and Jan Edwards of Sonora; sisters, Dolores Abbott of Beaver, Okla., Rita Zerr of Garden City, Kan., and Marge Conell of Great Bend, Kan.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Burkhart.

The rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Private inurnment at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. No visitation. Angels Memorial Chapel, Angels Camp, in charge of arrangements.
