Mrs. Austin was born on November 7, 1920 in Albemarle to the late Frank Howard Chandler and the late Callie Mitchell Chandler. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Christopher Burris, and her second husband, Clay Austin; and 11 siblings.
The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, April 5, 2013.
The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Fred Carpenter, will be held at Main Street United Methodist Church, April 6, 2013 at 11:00 am with a 30 minute state prior to the service . Burial will follow at the Fairview Memorial Park.
She is survived by three daughters; Nancy Burris Furr of Albemarle, Saundra Austin Huneycutt and husband Tommy of Albemarle, and Sue Austin Campbell and husband David of Concord; a brother, John Chandler of Albemarle; seven grandchildren, Chris Furr, Darren Furr, Lora Smith, Amber Hudson, Clay Huneycutt, Jesse Campbell, and Dylan Campbell; and five great grandchildren.
Mrs. Austin was retired from Stanly County Schools, was an active member at Main Street UMC, and numerous civic organizations.
Memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church "Family Life Center Fund," 1100 West Main St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
