Edgar A. Myers died July 25 2010 at the Knopp Nursing Home Facility in Fredericksburg, Texas after an extended illness.
A graveside service with military honors by Woodstock American Legion Post #199 will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Harrisville Cemetery near Toms Brook. Pastor Joe Fleming will officiate.
Mr. Myers was born in Toms Brook on July 10, 1921, the son of the late John A. and Mary V. Myers. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 when the Japanese attacked.
He retired from the navy in 1968 and lived in El Cajon, CA where he worked as a gardener for the San Diego Zoo. He retired from that position in 1988 and moved to Arkansas and then Texas. His wife Jean Biller Myers preceded him in death in 2008. He is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Showater of Toms Brook.
