Wasilla resident Nancy Jane Hill, 70, died at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center on Dec. 25, 2012. A public visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m., Dec. 28 at Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel, 1015 S. Check St. Wasilla.
Nancy was born in Portland, Ore., Nov. 16, 1942. After living in Omaha, Neb., and working in home interior design for eight years, she later returned to work as a travel agent.
Nancy loved to travel. She visited several European countries where she added to her growing number of decorative wall plates and her large collection of butterfly memorabilia.
Nancy was a loving wife and best friend for 44 years. She was easy going, supportive, never judgmental and always saw the lighter side of life. Family and friends were her passion. As a mother, she was a loving gentle soul who took pride in her children. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and loved spending as much time as possible with them all. Everyone who knew her was touched by her wisdom and encouragement. She spent 20 years as a military spouse and provided volunteer services to the military family support group. She especially loved traveling to European countries as a pastime and gathering collectibles from the sites she visited.
Preceding Nancy in death was her father, Jack McClard; mother, Zaida McClard; and grandson, Jason Hannah.
Surviving are her husband, Joe Hill of Wasilla; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and John Oliver of Vancouver, Wash., and Susan and Jerry Brewer of The Dalles, Ore.; daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Kirk Hannah of Wasilla; son and son-in-law Bret Hill and John McCormack of Seattle, Wash.; and son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Suzi Hill of Oregon City, Ore.
