Martin Korver Rites Held Thursday, July 29
Martin Korver of Orange City died Sunday afternoon, July 25, at the Grossmann Hospital at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 29 days.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 29, at one o'clock in the First Reformed church of Orange City with Dr. Henry Colenbrander
officiating.
Mr. Korver was born on November 26, 1874 on a farm two miles east of Orange City. He was the son of William and Martina Korver.
At the age of 14 years he moved with his parents to the farm two miles north and two miles east of Alton, where he homesteaded for 56 years.
In the year 1900 he was married to Jennie Mouw. In the fall of 1941 they moved to their present home in Orange City.
Mr. Korver is survived by his wife, five sons and two daughters; William, Henry, Martina (Mrs. Anthony Muilenburg), Myna (Mrs. Gillis Haverdink), Arthur, Myron, all of this vicinity, and Simon of Nooksack, Wash. Thirty-three grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren also survive. One brother Gerrit of Pipestone, Minn, and two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Mouw of Leota, Minn;, and Everet Mouw of Orange City are also listed among the survivors.
Mr. Korver was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur Otto, age two, in 1908, and John C., age 27, in 1944. Also one grandchild, Marilyn Muilenburg, age thirteen, in 1942.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers and two sisters as follows: John, George, Gerrude (Mrs. Dick Reinsma) and Marjorie in infancy.
Mr. Korver was a member of the First Reformed church in long standing, where he also served as a deacon.
