Mrs. Malinda Joan Burwell, 86, died Sunday, November 27, 1938, at her home, 1007 1/2 Husband street, Stillwater, Ok. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, 2:30 o'clock, at Strode Funeral home, the Rev. L.L. Roach, the Rev. D.B. Cooke and the Rev. P.C. Hesser officiating.
Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery here.
Malinda Joan Emmitt was born March 25, 1852, in Carthage, Mo., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Emmitt. SHe was married in 1870 at Carthage to James W. Burwell, who preceded her in death on April 26, 1903. The following year she came to Stillwater to make her home.
Survivors include three sons and one daughter. They are Samuel C. Burwell, Barber, Ark., R.A. Burwell and W.A. Burwell, Denver, Colo., and Goldie Catharine Phillips, Stillwater.
One son, Ernest M. and a daughter, Dottie Ada, preceded the mother in death.
Other survivors include sixteen grandchildren.
She was a member of the Christian church.
