Lester Philip Rhodes, 76, Loose Creek, died Sunday at his home. He was born Jan. 30, 1920, in St. Elizabeth, a son of John and Lena Libbert Rhodes. His mother survives in Loose Creek.
A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a farmer in the St. Elizabeth area. He was employed as a security guard for the Pinkerton Agency, Von Hoffman Press and Scholastic Press.
Other survivors include: three brothers, John Rhodes, Eldon, Robert Rhodes, Wichita, Kan., and Walter Rhodes, Jefferson City; and four sisters, Lucy Duncan, Eldon, Blanche Sparks, Loose Creek, Ruby Harris, Eskridge, Kan., and Clara Cochran, Iberia.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Christian Church near Tuscumbia. The Rev. Garry Rowden will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Rekus Funeral Home, St. Elizabeth.
