==========
"The LaFayette Sun" - February 27, 1918:

In Loving Memory of Mama.

Mrs. Alice Blackstone was born September 3, 1853, and died November 29, 1917. She was married to Joseph P. Blackstone January 13, 1875. Born to this union were four children - one son and three daughters. She joined the Methodist Church about thirty-four years ago, so we have never known anything but the love and tender care of a Christian mother, for she was a true Christian in every sense, although deprived of the privilege of attending church often.
A sad Thanksgiving day it was for us all; still we have so much to be thankful for, as she so often expressed her readiness and willingness to go, and had so much faith in her blessed Savior. Although you suffered so much here, we feel sure you have been welcomed into that haven of rest to await our coming.
You grieved so much, dear mama, for that dear, devoted boy who, for some reason not yet to be understood, was taken such a short time before you were called to follow on where you should be "made perfectly whole", as you so often expressed by your sickness. We all miss you everywhere - even the little ones, who loved to go to "grandma's" so well, and whom you loved so dearly. Although grieved so deeply over our irreparable loss, we bow in humble submission to God's will in the sweet thought that our loss is Heaven's gain, and your life shall be a guide for us. You lived a life so pure and sweet, so full of love and thoughtfulness for us that we "rise up and call you blessed."

- Her Children.
