Emery Joe Laud, 79, passed away March 28, 2013 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines. A memorial graveside service will be at a later date at Resthaven Cemetery.

Joe was born August 1, 1933 in Oskaloosa, IA to Walter and Blanche Laud. He graduated from Drake University. Joe worked at the United States Postal Service for 28 years. He served three years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Those left to celebrate Joe's life are his wife, Bernadine; son, Michael (Junrut); brother, Clarence; sister, Blanche (Duane) Vance of Oskaloosa; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and six sisters.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
