RALPH E. SUTTON, 86, of Marcus, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at his home in Marcus, Iowa.

There will be military rites at the graveside by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W.

Ralph was born April 30, 1926 at Cherokee, Iowa to George & Viola (Ralston) Sutton. He graduated from Cherokee Wilson High School in 1943. He was inducted in the U.S. Army on September 20, 1944 at Ft. Snelling, Minnesota. He served with the 127th Infantry Regiment of the 32nd Division. He saw action in the Luzon campaign. His medals and honors include Combat Infantryman badge, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with one bronze battle star, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze battle star, the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal and Japan Occupation Medal. He was honorably discharged on November 26, 1946 at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois. He farmed all his life. He was married to Judith Mansfield on July 3, 1969 at Elk Point, South Dakota. Ralph and Judy spent 19 years together. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church. Ralph enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends and neighbors, and reminiscing about WW II. He especially liked attending sales and auctions.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

He is survived by three daughters: Dawn Greene and her husband Kevin of Cherokee, Iowa; Jennifer Mathews of Omaha, Nebraska; Mary Grandick and her husband Jim of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Michael Greene and his special friend Regan Henkel of Ankeny, Iowa; Morgan Greene of Cherokee, Iowa; Nathan Mathews of Omaha, Nebraska; 3 sisters: Berniece (George) Richardson of Des Moines, Iowa; Carol Moore and her husband Cliff of Eldon , Iowa; Virginia Snedden and her husband Robert of Trumansburg, New York; also several nieces and nephews.
