Obituary
Goretta Heath Campton, daughter of James and Jane Heath was born at Waldwick, WI, October 20, 1855 and passed away at the home of her daughter-in-law in Storm Lake on Thursday afternoon, Feb 8, 1951 at the age of 95 years, 3 months and 19 days.
She was the second in a family of seven children, four boys and three girls, all of whom proceeded her in death except a brother, A.B. Heath who now resides in Storm Lake. Mrs. Campton spent her girlhood days in Waldwick, WI and received her education in the schools of that community.
On Feb. 26, 1873, she was married to Charles Campton. To this union were born three children: Elvin J. deceased; Geraldine and Myrtle.
In the fall of 1880 Mr. Campton came to Iowa and purchased a farm 2 1/2 miles southwest of Newell. In the spring of 1881 Mr. and Mrs. Campton with their family moved from Wisconsin to this farm and resided there for 45 years, which farm Mrs. Campton still owned at the time of her death. She and her husband suffered many hardships in those early days as did other pioneers. They also enjoyed many happy occasions, one of which was their 50th wedding anniversary in 1923.

A number of people from Newell attended the funeral of Mrs. Goretta Campton Sunday at Storm Lake. Mrs Campton was a former resident of the Newell community and was loved and respected by all who knew her.
