Sgt. Jacob H. Demand of Palouse, Washington never seemed to pull away from his parents during the terrible teens and he always talked to them about everything. Most go through being rebellious and don't talk, but his phase was mild. In the Army, Jake called from all over the world, wherever he was. He joined two weeks after graduating high school in 1995. He was a fixture on school teams, football, basketball, baseball and he loved hunting and fishing. When he joined the Military, the world was a little safer at that point in time. His goals in life were to be in the Army a little while and then to be in the U.S. Forest Service. But he grew to enjoy the people of Iraq. He talked of their support of the troops, about how little children would wave and smile. He was 29.
