He was born July 10, 1924, in Albemarle County, the son of the late Charles Nelson and Minnie Bowman White.
He was a retired employee of the Department of the United States Navy Air Station, Patuxent, Maryland, and a member of the Union Baptist Church in Avon, Virginia.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carlton White. He was the last member of his immediate family.
Survivors include special devoted and attentive cousins, John Thompson and his wife, Susan, and Therisia Jackson and her husband, Franklin; nieces and nephews, Rosetta Howard, Beatrice Banks, Charles H. White, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008, at the Union Baptist Church in Avon, Virginia, conducted by the Reverend Phillip A. Carter. Burial will be at the church cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.
Friends will be received at the residence of Therishia Jackson, 542 Half Mile Branch Road, Yancey Mill, Virginia.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lewis Funeral Home of Waynesboro, Virginia.
