Daughter of Malachi and Harriet Martin Hearn Scott, buried in the old section of this cemetery.

Martha is buried here in the new section as Martha S. Ward, with her first husband, John M. Ward.

Her second husband, William Lee, similarly, is buried with his first wife, in Murdock/Center Valley Cemetery in Washington County, Ohio.

According to Martha's obituary, she was born on Eddy's Ridge, married John M. Ward in 1902, and lived with him at Archer's Fork until he died in 1930. They had eight children together. She moved to Wade in 1931. She married William Lee in 1932 at St. Marys WV. He died in 1941. She later lived with her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Joy of Wade.

Her other children, listed in her obituary, were: Ralph Ward of Louisville, Ohio; Delbert Ward of Wade; Victor Ward of Canton; Gale Ward and Mrs. Thelma Ferguson of Empire, Ohio; Mrs. Hilda Thomas of Chicago; and Mrs. Glenda Masters of Canton. There also were 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren at the time of her death.

The obituary listed five sisters then surviving:

Mrs. Mary Brown of Marietta [ her half-sister, daughter of her mother Harriet's first husband; buried in Eastlawn cemetery in Marietta. Mary Brown's husband Isaac J. "Jud" shares this cemetery section. ]

Miss Ada Scott of Minerva [ her half-sister, daughter of her mother's unmarried liaison; presumably the one buried in East Lawn Cemetery in Stark Co., but that is yet being confirmed. Other family recollections were that Ada Scott was at that time MRS. Scott, having married a Scott. ]

Mrs. Nellie Dawson of Chicago [ her full sister, who mostly lived in East Liverpool, Columbiana Co. and is buried in Columbiana Memorial Park ]

Mrs. Stella Dellbrook of Toronto OH [ her full and twin sister, buried in Toronto Union Cemetery. ]

Mrs. Grace Taylor of Bridgeport [ her full sister, buried in Bridgeport Memorial Park, Belmont Co. ]

For a fuller list of her siblings and half-siblings, see the memorials for her parents, Malachi and Harriet Scott.

Her obituary said Martha had been a member of Eddy's Ridge (Mount Hope) Church of Christ, where her funeral and burial were.
