Louise A. Meiers, 90, of Waverly, died Sunday morning Aug. 23, 1998 at Doctors Hospital in Springfield.
She was born Nov. 15, 1907 in Maxwell Township, Sangamon County, a daughter of Frank and Alma V. Rogers Newberry. She married Frank Meiers July 7, 1926, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1990.
She is survived by a son, William T. (wife Judy) Meiers of Del Rio, Texas; a daughter, Jeanette (husband Stanley) Timmons of Waverly; ten grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Don (wife) Millie Newberry of Valdosta, GA, Meryl (wife Frieda) Newberry of Waverly, and Dick (wife Beatrice) Newberry of Springfield; and one sister, Clara (husband William) Robertson of Waverly. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Marjorie Stewart; one brother, Roy Newberry; one sister, Veda Gooden; and a brother in infancy.
Mrs. Meiers was retired from Hertzberg Bookbindery in Jacksonville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waverly. Mrs. Meiers was a 1926 WTHS graduate.
Following cremation, a memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998 at the Neece Funeral Home in Wverly
