Cynthia Baker was born September 19, 1910 to Geert and Grietje (Dykstra) Riemersma at Hosper, IA. She lived her youth and attended a country school in the Ocheyedan, IA and Worthington, MN area. On August 26, 1931 she was united in marriage to Maynard Baker at Ocheyedan. They farmed in the Ocheyedan area until Maynard's death in 1959. Cynthia was a cook at the Ocheyedan Christian School for many years. She was an active member of the Christian Reformed Church. She died June 6 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley at the age of 78.
She is survived by four sons: Howard of Ocheyedan; Arthur "Jiggs" of Fort Dodge; Robert of Sibley; and David ofWorthington, Minn.; two daughters: Mrs. Richard (Virginia) Skow of Jackson, Minn., and Mrs. Jim (Jan) Thiessen of Hartley; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters: Mrs. Harry (Jeanette) Sikma of Pella and Mrs. Peter (Lucy) Travaille of Sibley and a very close friend, Erwin Schubert of Ocheyedan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard, and granddaughter, Tara Thiessen.
