"Death of the Former Treasurer of St. Charles Parish. [Special to the Picayune].

Luling, La., April 7. - In the death yesterday morning of Mr. Antoine Gassen, Luling loses one of her oldest and most prominent citizens. Mr. Gassen formerly was Treasurer of St. Charles Parish, and at the time of his death was Postmaster of this place and a member of the School Board, to which position he was again nominated for at the recent primary. The funeral, which took place this morning in the Red Church Cemetery, was largely attended. Mr. Gassen leaves his wife and several sons and daughters, one of whom, Mr. Layous Gassen, is the present Parish Treasurer".
