Married Luzernia Allred Morrell in 1894. Whereabouts before 1893 and between 1900 to 1910 unknown. Thought by some to be Harry Longabaugh, "The Sundance Kid". Long never discussed his origin and history with anyone and there are some obvious conflicts between the census records and his death certificate. The death certificate identifies his place of birth as Big Horn Basin, Wyoming which was not settled until after 1879. However, the outlaw hideout "Hole In The Wall" is located in the Big Horn Mountains. Also on his death certificate Long's mother's given name Ann is noted. Ann was also the name of Harry Longabaugh's mother.

FUNERAL SERVICE HELD SUNDAY DUCHESNE FARMER
Funeral services for William H. Long, 76, who died early Friday morning at his home two miles East of Duchesne, were held in the L.D.S. ward hall at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Interment was in the Duchesne cemetery.
Born in Big Horn Basin, Wyoming, Mr. Long spent his early years as a cowboy in Wyoming. He later settled in Wayne county, Utah, where he married Mrs. Luzernia Allred Morrell in 1895. At time of the marriage Mrs. Long had six children from a previous marriage.
In 1916 Mr. and Mrs. Long, with their two daughters, Vinda and Viola came to the Uintah basin, living for a while in Mtn. Home and Midview and then purchasing the Hansen ranch East of Duchesne.
Mrs Long has been ill for many years, her ailment becoming so acute in the past three years that she has required almost constant attention. Last fall Mr. Long sold his ranch and moved his wife to Salt Lake City to spend the winter at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Viola Eilers. They returned this spring, moving into the Lockhart cabin on the ranch of their son-in-law Jerry Merkley.
When death came Friday morning, the body was immediately brought to Duchesne where it remained in charge of the Roy A. Schonian mortuary until the funeral Sunday.
Services were conducted by Bishop Rulon J. Larsen, with Leland Hair, and John W. Moulton as principle speakers. Bruce V. Smith offered the invocation, George Wilcken pronounced the benediction and Porter L. Merrell dedicated the grave at the cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. Fern Moffitt and Mrs. Margie Peterson, with Mrs. Francis Hair at the piano.
Surviving are the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Viola Eilers, Salt Lake City and Mrs. Vinda Merkley, Duchesne; four step-daughters, Mrs. Cloe Jackson and Mrs. Mary Anderson of Wayne county, Mrs. Clara Robinson, Sevier county, Mrs. Martha Jobe, Helper; a step-son, Mr. Ernest Morrell, Duchesne; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.(Uintah Basin Record Duchesne, Utah December 4, 1936)
