Son of Riddick Green, who died when Alfred Green was only two years old. His father's gift to him was a rifle, left in care of his mother until he was old enough to use it.
Alfred lived with his sister,Drucilla until enlisting in the Confederate Army, at age 20. At age 21 he was wounded at the Battle of Antietam (Sharpsburg, Maryland), and taken prisoner. There he died of his wounds. None of his sister's descendants knew of his whereabouts until, by chance, he was listed on FIND-A-GRAVE.
