George K. Vogel, 77, of Bath, N.Y. died Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at the Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath, N.Y. He was born Dec. 14, 1927 in Cohocton, N.Y., the son of Karl and Amelia Kiefer Vogel. An Army veteran, Mr. Vogel owned and operated Vogel Pyrofax Bottle Gas and Appliances with his father Karl. He also was a certified public accountant in Bath and had worked as an accountant for the Madson Bus Company in Bath. He was a 1945 graduate of Haverling High School and a 1950 graduate of St. Bonaventure University. Mr. Vogel was a 4th Degree member of the Elmira, NY, Knights of Columbus and the Charles E. Wescott Post 173 in Bath. He attended St. Stanislaus Church in Bradford, N.Y. On Sept. 20, 1958 Mr. Vogel married Shirley Vogel, who survives. In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Timothy Vogel of Mooresville, Thomas Vogel of Little Falls, N.Y. and Gary Vogel of Jefferson City, Mo; two sisters, Anne Watson of Williamsville, N.Y., and Sister Jean Vogel of Yardley, Pa.; six grandchildren, Amelia, Theresa and Christina Vogel of Little Falls, N.Y., Steven and Sydney Vogel of Jefferson City, Mo., and Anna Vogel of Mooresville; several nieces and nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at a time and date to be announced. Memorial donations may be made to the Volunteer Ambulance Corp of Bath,110 East Steuben Street, Bath, NY, 14810.
