His Grandfather Joseph W Hill was quite a prominent man in Pittsburg even serving as the Mayor of Pittsburg in 1904.
The Hill family had moved to Upshur County from Arkansas & Georgia after the War Between The States in 1874 Part of Uphur became Camp County & Pittsburg the county seat.
His father George Herrin Hill fought in the Spanish American War just a few years after he married his mother "Ollie" Olive Ray Stamps and Horace Ray was born and a few years later they had a sister for him, Mildred Ruth Hill Adams.
In 1909-10 his father was half owner of "Parks & Hill" grocery store in Dallas TX,
in April 1912 his parents had separated & his father started working for Southwest Telephone in Amarillo, Texas & Horace & his sister stayed with their mother who built 326 Jefferson Street Pittsburg Texas & owned that home until her death in 78'
In 1927 He married Georganna Mae Jackson she was Born in Kansas City, Missouri moved to Texas at the age of 6 to Wellington, Texas the daughter of Josiah Newton & Grazella "Grace" Phipps Jackson.
1928 Bought a Lot From Mr. Lockett & built a home on Lafayette Street.
in 1931 his father George had become the Owner of the Roswell Morning Dispatch & on 19 July 1935 he gave Horace a job offer and on 4 Sep 1935 Horace moved to Roswell & just after 27 Sep 1935 his Wife & Son Joined him.
Just after the new year he fell ill & died 5 Mar 1936
