VICTORIA - Eldridge P. Smith, 98, of Victoria passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013. He was born March 5, 1915, in Nixon to the late W. E. (Billy) and Barbara Ann Dees Smith. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He worked as a petrochemical operator for Coastal States for many years. He was a member of MidTown Church of Christ.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary Jones and husband, Gene of St. Louis, Missouri, and Cindy Lafferty and husband, Jay of Katy; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Lavelle Smith.

Interment with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steve Randle, Richard Tisue, Jim Hutt, Marty Galow, Dean Atkinson and Steve Wilson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Hornstein, John Whittington, Tom Pitchford, Allen Clifton, Bill Key and the staff of Twin Pines.
