Kathleen "Blondie" Vanover Burgess, 84, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009 in the Mountain City Care Center. She was born March 4, 1925 in Wise Virginia to the late Obern and Rose Dean Vanover. Her love was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She liked and enjoyed her garden.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Robert Keith Burgess; four daughters, Karen Anderson and husband Terry and Linda Sluder and husband Curtis, both of Shady Valley, Tennessee, Ingrid McComas and husband Bud, Mountain City, Tennessee and Monette "Moe" Gentry and husband Ron, Hickory, North Carolina; two sons, Dennis Burgess and wife Kate and Brent Burgess and wife Donna, both of Mountain City, Tennessee; grandchildren, Robert Gentry and wife Renee, Leslie Sharpe and husband Forrest, Jesse Gentry, Meghan Marshall and husband Terry, Deidre Burgess and Greta Burgess; Great grandchildren, James Gentry, William Gentry, Catie Hill, Jada Gentry, Jordan Burgess and Sam Swecker; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Mountain City Funeral Home with Patrick McLenithan officiating.
Music was under the direction of Michelle Sampson.
Entombment followed in the Mausoleum of Love at Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Robert Gentry, James Gentry, William Gentry, Terry Marshall, David Miller and Jesse Gentry.
