Stephen Hall was born in South Carolina to Pinkney and Jane Hall and later moved to Hall County, GA. Stephen Hall and his younger brother Yancey Hall were privates in the 43rd GA Infantry during the Civil War. They were captured at Vicksburg in 1863, released and rejoined the Army of Tennessee in early 1864. Thgey were captured at Nickajack Creek on July 5th, 1864 during the Atlanta Campaign. They spent the remainder of the war at Camp Douglas in Chicago, IL. After the war they both moved west to DeKalb County AL where they raised families and died.
