Kentucky New Era Obit posted 1/26/1971 reads as follows:

Jewell Burton Wells, 40 year old resident of 123 Hill St., died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at Jennie Stuart Hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be at 1:30pm Wednesday in the chapel at Henninger Funeral Home with the Rev. Clint Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Rogers Cemetery on the Princeton Road.

A native of Christian County, Mr. Wells was born June 20, 1930, the son of the late C.C. Wells and Mrs. Ethel Spurlin Wells, who lives in the city.

For 21 years, Mr. Wells had worked in stock fitting at International Shoe Co. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Woolf Wells, a son David Wells, of the home; three brothers, William E. and Leland Wells, both of the city, and Frank Wells, the county; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Spurlin and Mrs. Mary Combs, both of the city.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, who died in infancy 14 years ago.
