ERWIN - Mrs. Sarah Ann Proffitt Metcalf, 102, Long Term Care, Erwin, died Tuesday, October 27, 1987, after a long illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Elbert and Julia Blankenship Proffitt.
Mrs. Proffitt was a member of Jennie Moore Memorial Presbyterian Church.
She was a grocery store clerk for a number of years with E. A. Metcalf Grocery.
Mrs. Metcalf was preceded in death by her husband, E. A. Metcalf, in 1967.
Survivors include a stepson, Carter Metcalf, Mars Hill, North Carolina; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Effa Burnett, Asheville, North Carolina and Mrs. Zelda Bowden, Summerville, North Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Briggs, Flag Pond, and Mrs. Eunice McIntosh, Jonesborough; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
