MRS. MORGAN

LANETT — Mrs. Edith McEachern Morgan, 89, of Lanett died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006 in Columbus, Ga.

Funeral services were scheduled Monday, Jan. 16 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lanett with the Rev. Byron McEachern officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett.

Mrs. Morgan is survived by her husband, Malvern C. Morgan Jr. of Lanett; two daughters, Judith (George) Brown Jr. of Mountain Brook, Ala., and Nancy M. Waldrep of Columbus; six grandchildren, Christopher (Suzy) Brown, Carter (Jennie) Brown and Catherine (Andy) Bodnar, all of Mountain Brook, and Morgan (Jodi) Waldrep, Amy (Ryan) Sheffield and Mal (Katie) Waldrep, all of Columbus; seven great-grandchildren, Morgan Brown, Riley Brown, Frank Waldrep, Carolina Sheffield, William Brown, Drew Bodner and Charles Waldrep; two sisters, Evelyn (Walter) Meadors of West Point and Sarah McEachern Harrison of Richmond, Va.; and two brothers, Craton (Tallulah) McEachern of Lanett and Johnson McEachern of Pensacola, Fla.

Mrs. Morgan was born Oct. 9, 1916 at Tiller's Crossroads in Chambers County. Her family came to Lanett in 1928 and worked for West Point Manufacturing Company's Lanett Mill. She was an active leader in the Girl Scouts and various school activities. Mrs. Morgan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lanett where she was a leader in youth activities: Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and Sunbeams. Her passion was cooking for family and friends, and her favorite hobby was gardening. Mrs. Morgan was a cherished wife, mother and grandmother.

The family received friends Sunday Jan. 15 from 5 until 8 p.m. at McCarthy Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice, the First Baptist Church of Lanett, 710 S. Sixth St., Lanett, 36863 or to a favorite charity.
