Ada Linton Patterson, mother of the late Gov. Paul L. Patterson, died in her home in Hillsboro Saturday morning.
The daughter of Joseph and Matilda Linton, was born Sept. 25, 1874, in Kent, Ohio. Following her graduation from Hiram College, she was married to George A. Patterson of Portland.
In 1908, the family moved to Portland and Mrs. Patterson made her home here except for short periods in California, Washington and Ohio. She had lived in Hillsboro since 1941.
Her son, Governor Patterson, died Jan. 31, 1956. He had succeeded Douglas McKay as governor in 1952 and elected governor in 1954.
Mrs. Patterson's husband was a minister in the Christian Church and she was active in the church for many years. After moving to Hillsboro, she joined the Congregational Church where she taught Sunday School and was president of the Women's Fellowship.
She was a member of the American Assn. of University Women and the Washington County Historical Society. She served as curator of the Historical Museum in Hillsboro for several years.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Glenn Hall of Hillsboro; two sisters, Mrs. Loron Quier and Mrs. George Brown, both of Kent, Ohio; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Donelson, Sewell and Hammack Mortuary in Hillsboro with the Rev William Ebertz of the Congregational Church officiating. Cremation will be in Riverview Cemetery and Mausoleum and her ashes will be placed next to those of her son.
