Leslie C. Henschel, 82, of 11723 Marken Rd., Kiel, (School Hill), died Wednesday morning, August 7, 1991, at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton, where he was a patient for one month.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. James United Church of Christ, Spring Valley. Rev. Lloyd Fried officiating and burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was born June 2, 1909, in the town of Meeme, son of the late Louis and Ella
Arnoldi Henschel. He graduated from District School in 1922. He also attended Howards Grove High School. He married the former Edna Karstaedt, December 15, 1929, at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Town of Schleswig. He farmed for 20 years in the town of Meeme, worked for Harry Richburg and sons of Manitowoc for five years, operated the Spring Valley Tavern for five years and also worked at Brost Meat Market for 14 years, retiring in 1974. His wife, Edna, preceded him in death June 12, 1990. He was a member of St. James United Church of Christ, Spring Valley. He was town of Meeme Chairman for six years, town of Meeme Supervisor for 16 years and the District Clerk of Woodland School for five years.
Survivors include two sons, LaVerle (Madge) of Kiel, Stanley of Milwaukee; a daughter, Barbara (Jan) VanSpijker of Cleveland; seven grandchildren; a brother, Harvey (Norma) Henschel of Cleveland; a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Verona) Stolzmann of Cleveland; a brother-in-law, Albert Schmitt. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and at the church Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial has been established in his name.
