Jeremiah was the son of Jeremiah Ormsby and his wife Mehitable Wilmarth. He was born 10 February 1707 in Rehoboth Bristol Co., MA. And at aged 25 he married Persis Millard, 14 September 1732 by the Reverend John Coomer. The marriage record has been incorrectly copied continuously since 1732, as Phebe Millard. Coomer's original Diary is extant, and held at The Rhode island Historical Society. It clearly states his marriage to Ms. Persis Millard. They lived in Bristol County and there is no doubt he died there after 1741 when his only son Jeremiah was born and before 1746 when Phillip Wheeler attests in Taunton to the fact that Jeremiah is "lately deceased", and that he was present when Jeremiah signed a deed on December 5 1741 to Samuel Millard.
Jeremiah's parents are buried in Rehoboth Burial Ground and he predeceased them. It is likely that he might be buried there. Both he and Persis were 7th Day Baptist. She then married Daniel Chaffee the widower of her own sister Alice Millard.
