Robert E. "Ed" McAllister, age 88, of Dalton, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Regency Park Assisted Living.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Claud McAllister and Lula Ann McAllister; sisters, & brothers-in-law, Pauline & Bill Warren, Louise & Millard Williams, Joyce Bryant, Lillian & Bill Stewart and Frankie & Boyd; brothers & sisters-in-law, Charles & Agnes McAllister, J.C. & Louise McAllister; sister-in-law, Colleen McAllister.

Mr. McAllister was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy and served in the North Atlantic during WWII. He was on the Destroyer Escort, "The William T. Powell".
He is survived by his wife, Thelma L. McAllister of the residence; sons & daughters-in-law, Wayne & Caitlin McAllister of Woodland Park, CO, Michael & Kathy McAllister of Dalton; Bryan McAllister of Cohutta; brother, Leon McAllister of Dalton; brother-in-law, Winfred Bryant of Dalton; grandchildren, Steffani & David Kent and Steven & Jillian McAllister; great-grandchild, Piper Kent; nieces and nephews also survive.

A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. McAllister will be held Monday, March 18, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Dr. Charlie Bridges officiating.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
