MINCE, Evelyn L. - Of Flint, age 89, died Monday, March 11, 2013 at Heartland Health Care Center – Fostrian.

Funeral service will be held 11am Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Hill Creek Church of God, 5363 Hill Road, Swartz Creek,

Bishop Jeffrey S. Lambert officiating.

Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Those desiring may make contributions to Carriage Town Minisries.

Visitation 4-8pm Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.

Evelyn will be at the church 10am Friday until the time of the service.

Evelyn was born in Turkey Ford, Oklahoma on August 12, 1923.

She married Eugene Mince on September 1, 1951 and he preceded her in death on January 16, 2000.

She was a faithful and wonderful mother and grandmother.

Evelyn was a lifetime member of West Flint Church of God and a lifelong servant of God. She worked tirelessly for the church visiting the sick. She was also involved with the food bank for 18 years. Evelyn was employed with AC Spark Plug for 30 years. She taught Sunday School at West Flint Church of God for many years and touched the lives of many children.

Surviving are children, Janet and husband Dennis Jones, Richard and wife Ruth, Cheryl and Ross Dornbush; 8 grandchildren, Randy, Jennifer, Wesley, Kevin, Keith, Ashley Gene, Justin and Shayna; 5 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Brittney, Katelyn, Samantha and Amber; 2 brothers, Clyde (Sylvia) Burtrum and Wayne (Wilma) Burtrum; and sister, Shirley Dingess.

She was preceded in death by her father, John, brothers, Ernie and Earl Burtrum.

Blanche Eller Burtrum was born near Stella, Mo., November 30, 1899, and died at Miami, Okla., June 8, 1926, age 26 years, six months and seven days. She was married to John Burtrum of Granby, October 21, 1916, and to this union was born four children: Clyde, Earnest, Earl and Evelyn, all of whom are living. Besides these she leaves a mother, five brothers and five sisters and a host, of other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. Her death came very sudden as she was sick only two weeks. She lived a devoted Christian life and all who knew her loved her.
