Sidney E. Gross LAWRENCEVILLE -

Sidney E. Gross, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the Greenwood House, Ewing Township, NJ. He was longtime resident of Allentown, PA.

Mr. Gross was born in Trenton, NJ, graduating from Trenton Central High School. He was a graduate of Rutgers University with the degree of Bachelor of Science in industrial management.

Previous to his studies at the university, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Gross began drawing and painting as a hobby during his working career. Upon retirement in 1995, he became a serious watercolor painter. He studied under renowned painter, teacher and art professor at Montclair College, Master Artist Lewis Panagini.

By 1997, he became a member and director of the Burlington County Art Guild and the NJ Garden State Watercolor Society. The Guild and the Watercolor Society awarded his artwork in many juried exhibitions and was declared a "Master Watercolor Painter" by teacher and peers.

Mr. Gross began his executive career in 1953 as assistant manager of distribution for Maidenform Inc. He moved on to plant manager for Bobbie Brooks, and then senior engineer. Later he was the general manager for the Beeline Company. By 1972, he was president, director and CEO of the Goulder Company, Inc., a women's apparel manufacturing company. He was appointed and served on the Panel of Arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association.

The family wishes to thank the physicians, nurses and caregivers at Capital Health, Helene Fuld Campus, and the nurses and caregivers at The Greenwood House, Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Predeceased by his parents, Lena Siskowitz Gross and Irving Gross; his brother, Harry Gross, and his beloved son, Mark Barry Gross, he is survived by his dear wife of 58 years, Irene Levin Gross; his beloved daughter, Debrah Gross Nazarski and son-in-law, Caesar Nazarski, and Mark's wife, Kathy Gross. Sid took special joy in his grandchildren, Lauren Carroll, Jami, Eli and Hannah Nazarski, and his great-grandson, Jordan Carroll.

Funeral services are Monday, March 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. from Orland's Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Rd., Ewing Township, NJ 08618. Interment will follow at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Eggerts Crossing Road, Ewing Township.

The period of mourning will be observed at the Gross residence Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The family respectfully requests memorial contributions be offered to Adath Israel Congregation, 1958 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648 or The Greenwood House, 53 Walter Street, Ewing Township, NJ 08628.
