Married April 27th 1797
in Alexandria, Grafton County, New Hampshire.

**************************************

Ahimaaz was of Scotch Welsh descent. He was born April 26, 1767, at Billerica, Massachusetts, and lived there until he went to Grafton County, New Hampshire, where he married Mary Tolford. He graduated from Harvard College and further pursued medicine and surgery at Reading, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. In 1809 he left New Hampshire and went to Moriah, Essex County, New York. He lived in Washington County, New York and practiced medicine at all these places. At the time of his death his home was about five miles from Plattsburg, Clinton County, New York.

Ahimaaz was not old enough to go into the War of the Revolution, but he served in the War of 1812, as a soldier in the army guarding the border between New York and Canada. He died September 12, 1814, the day after the battle of Plattsburg, mourning the hard fate that had kept him from the fight that he could hear in the distance, he being then in the last stage of consumption.

As of Thursday, March 14th 2013 Ahimaaz is not listed in any cemetery in Essex or Clinton Counties, New York, or any other county checked here at Find A Grave. He lived a few miles from Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York, when he died. I have found no conclusive record for his burial. I am still searching, so if any one who comes upon this memorial and can help with a conclusive location of his burial place, please let me know. Many thanks to all you great volunteers.
