Shirley Margaret Rowland, age 83, of West Union, IA, died Monday, January 23, 2012 at Good Samaritan Home in West Union, IA. She was born September 26, 1928 in Postville, IA to Roy and Margaret Welzel.
She married Kermit Rowland, and the couple made their home in West Union for many years.
Shirley was a long time employee for Fayette County Clerk of Court office in West Union, IA. During her retirement years she enjoyed traveling frequently, playing cards and visiting family.
Shirley is survived by her son David Rowland of Apple Valley, MN; her daughter, LuAnn Creek of Grandview, MO; her grandsons: Timothy Creek of Little Rock, AR, Nicholas Rowland of Hollidaysburg, PA and Thomas Rowland of Burnsville, MN.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Rowland, her parents, Roy and Margaret Welzel; her sister, Joann Spies and a grandson, Matthew Creek.
Funeral services will be 11:30 am, Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union, with Rev. Galen Smith as officiant. Interment will follow at West Union Cemetery.
