Michael W. Tipton, 58, of Mendota died March 11, 2013, in his home.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Burial will be private. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Mr. Tipton was born Dec. 25, 1954, in Ottawa to William D. and Gloria June (Wilkins) Tipton. He married Cely Ogalesco on May 9, 1975, in the Philippines.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years during the Vietnam War. He worked at Pretium Packaging, Peru for 12 years as a supervisor. He was a member of Mendota Moose Lodge.

Survivors are his wife of Mendota; one son, Steven (Theresa) Tipton of Mendota; two daughters, Michelle (Wayne) Tipton of Macomb and Tanya (Tim) Wade of Streator; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Gail (Bob) Moffett of Mendota and Brenda Kassel of La Salle; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two nephews and one niece.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
