Katharine Gray was the daughter of John Alexander Clinton Gray (1815-1898) and Susan Maria Zabriskie (1814-1904). On the 1850 Census, "Catherine" was reported to be 3 years old. Hence the 1847 birth year. Still looking for a passport application or passenger list with an actual birth date.
Katharine married Hackley Bartholomew Bacon in 1874 in Manhattan, New York. The couple had two children, a daughter Susan Gray Bacon (1877-1882) and a son Francis Gray Bacon (1879-1892).
Shortly after the death of their daughter in 1882, Hackley retired from the banking business in New York and moved the family to Ventnor, Isle of Wight, England. Sadly, their son Francis Gray Bacon died February 27, 1892 at age 12 (in the 13th year of his life) subsequent to a fall from his Shetland pony. Hackley himself died in Ventnor in 1916, and his wife in Ventnor in 1921.
