Nels Thoreson, 81, of the Dentaybow area, died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Sunbury Community Hospital, Pennsylvania, following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 7, 1919, at Dentaybow, Nett River Township. He was the youngest son of Helge and Ingabjorg Thorkel. He grew up and remained in the area most of his life.
On Aug. 1, 1943, he married the former Mabel Wilcox at Littlefork. She preceded him in death on Aug. 22, 1981.
He worked in logging camps and for Mando in the pole yard at Big Falls. He also was employed at a golf course in North Dakota, and he worked for and retired from Boise Cascade, International Falls, in June of 1981.
He moved to Sunbury, Pa., in July 2000 to live with his daughter Dianne and son-in-law Larry Bush.
Survivors include his daughter, Dianne Bush and son-in-law Larry Bush; granddaughter Laurie Bush of Sunbury, grandson Brian Bush, great-grandson Christopher Bush of Palmyra, Pa.; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Inga Erickson of Superior Wis., Gwen Skarsten of Grand Forks, N.D., and Ann and Erling Anderson of Auburn, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Mabel, he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Thore and Ole Thoreson and sisters Alice Casmey, Bertha Moebeck, Barbrau and Sigrid; two nephews, Kenneth Thoreson and Gordon Erickson; and a great-granddaughter, Tawnee Guffey.
Graveside services are planned for 2 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Dentaybow Cemetery, with the Rev. Scott Jacob officiating.
Interment will be at Dentaybow Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Green-Larsen Mortuary Inc., International Falls.
