JOHN VOGEL IS DEAD – FUNERAL ON THURSDAY
81 Year Old Man Lived Since an Infant on Homestead on Route 1 Cato
John Vogel, 81, a resident of Manitowoc County for 79 years, died last night at the family homestead on Route 1, Cato, where he lived since he was two years old. Death followed an illness of about eight months. The body was removed to the home from the Pfeffer Funeral Home this afternoon and funeral services will be at 9 o’clock Thursday morning from the John Vogel homestead and at 9:30 o’clock from the St. Michael’s church at Whitelaw. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery

The deceased was born in Germany on June 24, 1853 and he was brought to America by his parents in 1855. The family moved immediately to Cato Route 1, and occupied the home in which Mr. Vogel died yesterday. On October 22, 1873, he was married to Mary Spaeth, who survives him. He was actively engaged in farming until 15 years ago when he retired. On August 18, 1933, Mr. and Mrs. Vogel celebrated the diamond anniversary of their wedding.

Besides the widow, the deceased is survived by twelve children, Sister Walburga of the Holy Family hospital, Sister Robert, an instructor of music at Reedsville, Mrs. Henry Neuser of Whitelaw, Mrs. Charles Brandl of Clarks Mills, Mrs. Reinhard Klingeisen of Manitowoc Rapidsm, Mrs. Daniel Geiger of Brillion and Mrs. Peter Holschbach of Manitowoc Rapids, John of Aurora, Ill., Louis and Frank of Manitowoc Rapids, Richard of Newton and Bernard of Cato. There are 65 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Mr. Vogel was a member of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin for 41 years and the organization will attend his funeral.
