They came to Canada in 1836, with their daughter Elizabeth, born 5 Apr 1835, and initially settled as tenants on a 50-acre property (half of a lot shared with her brother William Ruxton) at Winterbourne, Woolwich township, Waterloo County in Ontario.
About 1843 they acquired land and moved to Peel township, Wellington County, just outside of Alma, Ontario.
In 1859 the family moved to a house in the village of Alma, where she lived until her death.
On 5 Dec 1860 her husband William sold his farm to James Isaac, blacksmith, of the village of Alma. James was the son of John Isaac, who, after the death of James' mother, had married another of Charlotte's sisters, Elizabeth Ruxton.
